In medieval times Italian moneylenders used benches in the marketplace to conduct business. Latin for bench was X, which transferred to English as Y. These lenders were required to publicly break up their benches if their businesses failed, this was termed as A, which transferred to English as B.
The Latin expression being XA-, became YB in English. What are XA, YB?
Ans: X-Banca Y-Bank A-rupta B- rupt, so XA- Bancarupta and YB-Bankrupt.

X is a document submitted by a company which does not have complete particulars on the price of the securities offered and quantum of securities offered. X is termed so because the disclosure statement is printed in red ink on the cover explicitly stating that the issuing company is not attempting to sell its shares.
The term X originates from the tradition whereby young hunting dogs in Britain were trained to follow a scent with the use of a red (salted and smoked) Fish. This pungent fish would be dragged across a trail until the puppy learned to follow the scent.
It is also an idiom referring to a device which intends to divert the audience from the truth or an item of significance.
What is X?Ans: Red Herring, cracked by one and all.

"To be qualified as a X, the company must obtain a score of 60 (of the total 100). The score is based on six parameters which include net profit to net worth, total manpower cost to total cost of production or cost of services, PBDIT (Profit Before Depreciation, Interest and Taxes) to capital employed, PBIT to turnover, EPS (Earning per share) and inter-sectoral performance. Additionally, a company must first be a Y and must have four independent directors on its board before it can get X status.
"The X status will empower a company to invest up to Rs. 1000 cr or 15% of their net worth on a single project without seeking government approval. In a year, these companies can spend up to 30% of their net worth not exceeding Rs. 1000 cr. They will also have the freedom to enter joint ventures, form alliances and float subsidiaries abroad." What is X and Y.
Ans: X is Navratana and Y is Miniratna.
